ABOUT ME

Games as a Career

Hey there. My name’s Jesse Smart. I'm 19 and currently in the final trimester of my Bachelor of Games Programming being undertaken at Sydney’s SAE Creative Media Institute. Currently, I’m looking for a work placement within the industry to fulfil a requirement to receive my Bachelor. However, apart from it being a requirement, I hope to gain experience of what it is like to work in the games industry in the real world.

So, what is my skill set? Well I’ve been learning code for many years now. I did multiple holiday courses at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment when I was 14 and 15, learning C# programming as well as 3D Modelling & Animation in Maya. In year 11 & 12 at Asquith Boys High School I took the Software Design & Development elective, where I use Visual Basic to learn the basics of coding. At SAE I have focused on mastering the Unity Engine and have made multiple games with it, but have also developed one project in Unreal. In my own time I have made multiple projects, including a small VR prototype.

In terms of more universal skills, I’m hard working, committed and professional. I currently have an attendance of 100% at SAE, which I hope conveys at least a little bit that I am quite dedicated towards my responsibilities. I often take up the role of team leader, and have worked in multiple group projects with teams ranging between 2 and 6 people, as well as many projects on my own.

In future I’d like to be apart of a game development company, big or small, and be able to not only program games, but partake in group discussions to create projects from the ground up. I hope the projects on this portfolio help indicate some of my abilities as a game developer, and feel free to contact me below if you have any interest in my skill set.
